Hope and Destiny Jr. Learning Guide and Workbook
Sickle cell disease (SCD) is a group of blood disorders that affect hemoglobin, the molecule in red blood cells that carries oxygen to cells throughout the body. The CDC estimates that 90,000 to 100,000 Americans have SCD, making it a major public health concern that brings with it considerable financial consequences due to the higher number of hospitalizations and increased medical expenditures that sickle cell patients experience over a lifetime compared to the general public.
Our best-selling book series today is the Hope & Destiny series, which includes a book written just for adolescents and families impacted by sickle cell disease.
Hope and Destiny Jr. is now available in this new 48-page abridged workbook edition for young SCD patients to learn more about their disease, identify their pain, track symptoms and side-effects of treatments and medications, and write about the unique challenges and changes they may be experiencing so they can discuss with their doctor.
