Whitten founded the Sickle Cell Detection and Information Program. They completed purchase of our office building in 1990. The building contains 14 offices, a laboratory, and separate rooms for meetings and education. There is also ample outside space for client activities. Nationally, they are one of the only community based agencies responsible for a state wide sickle cell program.
Their Mission is:
-To maximize the life potential of individuals living with sickle cell disease
-To enable individuals with sickle cell trait to make informed decisions with respect to family planning
-To provide education and testing for the general public
